HIRE INFO & FAQ

How do I make an appointment?

If you would like to make an appointment or have any questions please give me a call on 07515 998613 or drop me an email.

All of my hats are available to view on this website and are organised by colour. If you would like to see any of the hats in more detail or from different angles I can send you additional photos by email.

I have given each hat a name so that you can check if it is available before coming to see it, or if there are a few hats that you would like to try on you can let me know in advance and I can get them ready for you.

Where do I go?

I run the boutique from my home in Tokers Green, on the outskirts of Reading town centre. There is plenty of private parking onsite and no need for permits or payment. The full address and directions will be provided once your appointment has been confirmed.

What do I need to bring?

I encourage you to bring along your outfit including your shoes and any accessories if possible so that you leave feeling confident that you have chosen the right colour and style of hat to go with it. You are welcome to bring someone with you to help you make a decision.

How much does it cost?

Payment is by cash, cheque or bank transfer and made at the time of booking.

Hire prices range from £30-£50. A deposit of the same amount is required and will be fully refunded on return of the hat, provided it is returned without any damage and in its original hat box.

When can I have the hat?

Unless the event is more than 6 weeks away, you may take the hat home on the same day*so you will need to bring a cheque book or sufficient cash to cover the cost of hat hire and deposit.

If you do decide to hire a hat you can take it away with you on the same day, provided your event isn’t more than 6 weeks away*. Otherwise we can arrange a date for you to come back and collect it. A hat box will be provided.

*This may not always be possible in the very busy summer season.

How long can I have the hat for?

When you hire the hat, we will agree a convenient date for you to return it, usually within seven days of the event.

What happens if the hat gets damaged?

Hats don’t like the rain! so if the weather is wet on the day of your event please ensure that you stay under cover or use an umbrella to protect it from getting wet.

The hat is your responsibility during the hire period and if it is marked or damaged in any way The Hat Hire Boutique reserves the right to retain your deposit. This includes but is not limited to holes, dents, stains and rain marks.

If the hat does get marked or damaged please do not attempt to clean or mend it yourself.

Should a previous hirer not return a hat you have booked to hire or it is damaged, The Hat Hire Boutique will endeavour to find a good and suitable replacement. A direct replica style and colour cannot be guaranteed. Liability is limited to the return of the hire charge if a suitable alternative is not available

Please keep the hat in its box when you are not wearing it.

Hats don’t suit me!

Most of my clients come through the door saying this and it is understandable. These days we rarely wear hats so it doesn’t always feel natural, but as you start to try the hats on and experiment with different styles and sizes you will get used to seeing yourself in a hat and will quickly get a feel for what suits you. Bear in mind that on the day of the event, everyone will be dressed up, and you won’t be the only one wearing a hat so you will feel much less self-conscious. More often than not clients leave with a very different hat than they had envisaged and have been absolutely delighted!
